Huddersfield 1-3 Chelsea: Player Ratings

Chelsea returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-1 away win to Huddersfield Town. Tiemoue Bakayoko, Willian, and Pedro were all on the scoresheet as the Blues bounced back from the weekend’s defeat to West Ham. Laurent Depoitre scored a late consolation for the Terriers, but it was an overly dominant performance from Antonio Conte’s side. Here’s how the players rated in Yorkshire:

Thibaut Courtois – 6
Had literally nothing until towards the end of the game, when he saved well from a header. The Belgian would be bitterly disappointed to lose his clean sheet after Depoitre netted with the last touch of the game.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
Very solid, as always. Provided a great pass to Alonso, which led to Willian’s goal. Back to business for the Chelsea captain.

Andreas Christensen – 7
After a less than convincing performance against West Ham, the Dane returned to the form that has earned many plaudits. Subbed off late on to keep him fresh for Saturday.

Antonio Rudiger – 6
Like the other defenders, he wasn’t tested too much during the course of the game. However, he was beaten in the air by Depoitre for the goal.

Victor Moses – 6
Found a lot of space on the right-hand side, but didn’t really do much with it. Started the move for Chelsea’s first goal.

Tiemoue Bakayoko – 7
The Frenchman bounced back from a few bad games to impress Antonio Conte on Tuesday night. His chipped finish put the Blues in front, and he looked calm and assured on the ball.

N’Golo Kante – 7
Kante does what Kante does. His constant running and covering allowed Bakayoko more freedom to go forward, which allowed his midfield partner to open the scoring. As fantastic as ever.

Marcos Alonso – 7
Provided a great cross for Willian for Chelsea’s second. Not really involved until his assist, but did well with his attacking and defensive duties.

Willian – 8
A great performance from the Brazilian, who has impressed in recent games. A goal and two assists for Willian was richly deserved. One of the stand-outs.

Pedro – 7
Scored one, but could have had more. Took his goal well, but was denied by Lossl a number of times, and put another wide. Promising from the Spaniard.

Eden Hazard – 8
Playing as a false nine, Hazard was highly impressive. His link-up play with Willian was great, and he was involved in the build-up to the opener. The Belgian was great.
Substitutes

Michy Batshuayi – 6
Didn’t really do much to change the game, but was caught offside a few times.

Danny Drinkwater – 6
Came on to sure up the midfield as Kante earned a rest.

Ethan Ampadu – 6
Made his Premier League debut. Looked assured and calm.
