Arsenal news: Aubameyang signing makes NO SENSE… nobody else wanted him - Marcotti

That’s the opinion of ESPN FC’s European football expert Gabriele Marcotti, who claims the Gunners should have invested elsewhere in the squad.
Alexis Sanchez’s departure to Manchester United left a hole in Arsenal’s front-line with Alexandre Lacazette struggling for form in recent months.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan arrived as part of the deal for Sanchez but Arsenal were hopeful of securing a move for Aubameyang.
They eventually agreed a fee with Borussia Dortmund worth £55million on deadline day.
However, with the likes of Lacazette, Ozil and Mkhitaryan, Marcotti believes Arsenal already have enough strength in attacking positions.
“This is a player that was offered to everybody in the summer and there were no takers,” Marcotti said on ESPN.
“You still ended up spending a lot of money for him, if you compare him to other players who moved in the summer.

“He’s 29 years old, you already have a centre-forward who was the club’s record signing and has only been there for six months.
“I also think it adds to the cohort of players who are in their late-20’s between him, Mkhitaryam and Ozil extending.
“I don’t think it’s a good situation to be in when you’ve got three or four players who are roughly the same age who are really getting on.”
