£166m-rated forward reveals how close he came to join Arsenal

French rising star Kylan Mbappe has revealed that he has been on the verge to sing for Arsenal and reveals he still wishes to play under Arsene Wenger.
-
Mbappe sent shockwaves through the game when he made a switch to Monaco’s direct Ligue 1 rivals PSG on an initial season-long loan before French giants pay £166million for a permanent deal.
-
Arsen Wenger, who stepped down from the Emirates hot seat after a 22-year reign, has missed out on signing several world-class players.
-
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were just a few players that Wenger missed to sign.
And former Monaco forward has explained how close he was on signing for the Gunners.
-
“I met with Arsene Wenger, who is a great coach,” Mbappe said.
“He has a great reputation here in France, he’s well-respected and knows how to develop young players. This was a real option for me.
-
“We weighed up the advantages and disadvantages of all the clubs but my family told me it had to be my decision and one I needed to make. It also had to be a long-term decision.
-
“So it was up to me and I decided to come here [to PSG] in order to develop.”
France international forward has also revealed that he’d love to play under Wenger
“I dream of being managed by Arsene Wenger.
-
“He is French, he’s had a great career and now he is free because he has left Arsenal.”
