Arsenal ready to swoop for £35m star, selling club already planning for departure

According to reports in Spain via the Daily Star , Arsenal are lining-up a swoop for Steven N’Zonzi this summer and Sevilla have already found a replacement for the £35m-rated midfielder.
-
Unai Emery is in the market for a new midfielder as Santi Cazorla has left for Villarreal while Jack Wilshere is also being tipped to leave on a free transfer after failing to agree terms over a new contract.
-
We’ve been linked with a number of players in recent weeks but N’Zonzi has emerged as a target and the Daily Star are citing a report from AS that claims Arsenal are showing a keen interest in signing the French international.
-
The Spanish publication says Sevilla are already planning for life without N’Zonzi after lining-up Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente as a replacement. However, they will demand Arsenal pay the full value of the 29-year-old’s £35m release clause.
-
N’Zonzi is currently at the World Cup in Russia with the French squad so any potential deal won’t happen any time soon but I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad if we were to lure him to the Emirates.
-
The former Blackburn and Stoke midfielder has experience playing in the Premier League and the 6ft 5in star would add a real presence to the team in the middle of the park.
-
Emery obviously knows N’Zonzi well from their time together at Sevilla where they won the Europa League so it looks like he’s ready to be reunited in north London this summer.
-
However, £35m for a player who’s approaching 30 is a lot for Arsenal and with various reports suggesting we’re also in for Sampdoria’s Lucas Torreira, I’d be surprised if anything came of these N’Zonzi rumours.
