Deal close- Sky Sports confirm Arsenal move after “concrete” talks held

Arsenal have held “concrete talks” with Freiburg about a move for centre-back Caglar Soyuncu but have yet to agree a fee, the player’s agent has said.
Sky Sports confirm that Arsenal head of recruitment Sven Mislintat has been tracking Soyuncu and the Gunners are keen on a move for the 22-year-old Turkey international.

Per Mertesacker retiring at the end of the season and concerns growing over Laurent Koscielny’s long-term fitness, bringing in at least one new centre-back this summer is a priority at the Emirates.
Speaking to Turkish publication Gunes, the 22-year-old defender revealed he has his heart set on joining Unai Emery’s Gunners.

“It is true, Arsenal have made an offer,” Soyuncu said. “I want Arsenal, God willing I will go to Arsenal or the Premier League but it all depends on Freiburg.
“I still have another three years on my contract. I received offers from teams in Turkey. I would not be able to give you a name, but I rejected them. I will not be returning to Turkey. I want to continue my career in Europe at the biggest clubs.”

Soyuncu is currently valued at £35m and he could become Arsenal’s third summer signing under Unai Emery’s era.
