Lucas Torreira or Sokratis Papastathopoulos to become Arsenal's third summer signing shortly

Arsenal are closing in on deals for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira after the arrivals of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Berd Leno earlier this summer.
.
The Greek centre-back is set to move to the Emirates in a deal worth £17.7million while the Uruguayan is expected to cost £27million with officials at his current club having already declared that he is leaving and that the search has begun for a replacement.
.
Press Association report that third deal of the transfer window for the Gunners could be finalised in the coming days. Uruguay's progression into the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2018 may mean that Sokratis beats Torreira to an official announcement.
.
Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger as the new head coach at Arsenal in June and has promised to bring in a possession-based style of play with intense pressing high up the pitch.
.
He has already overseen contract extensions for Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Granit Xhaka in midfield. Aaron Ramsey's future is still a matter to be resolved but Mesut Ozil has already committed to the Gunners having signed a deal in the final months of Wenger's tenure.
.
Torreira has been ear-marked as the missing component to help protect the defence and support Xhaka in deep positions. Mohamed Elneny can also offer more traction in the middle of the park.
.
In defence, Calum Chambers is set to stay after rumours linking him to Fulham, as Sokratis is brought in to add more experience following the retirement of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny's injury issues.
