Arsenal News: Jamie Carragher offers Arsenal advice to Unai Emery (Sky Sports)

Jamie Carragher had some tactical suggestions for new Arsenal boss Unai Emery after their 3-2 defeat by Chelsea FC on Saturday (so ash).

Arsenal lost their second consecutive game of the new season at the weekend at Stanford Bridge, slumping to a 3-2 loss against Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge.

Emery could only watch on in horror as his team fell two goals behind within 20 minutes after their opponents carved them open at the back with some quick passing interchanges.

However, Arsenal FC did manage to stage a spirited comeback, scoring twice themselves before half-time to level up the scores going in at the break.

But ultimately it was Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea that had the final say on proceedings when Marcos Alonso grabbed a late winner courtesy of a delightful Eden Hazard assist.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher seemed baffled by Emery’s tactics in the wake of the result, criticising the way he had set up his team.

Carragher told Sky Sports : he says “I didn’t expect Arsenal to win these games, all I’m saying is the things I saw – trying to play out from the back, putting the keeper under pressure – why do that?

“Why play a high line when Mustafi can’t run? Are we saying top-level players in the Premier League cannot adapt? I’m not saying play it long. Maybe if they can’t play it long, chip it to the full-back as Chelsea did on the second goal.

“You say managers shouldn’t adapt, but three or four years ago we lauded Arsene Wenger when he went to Manchester City and changed his plan and got a great result. Do you expect every single team to play exactly the same way, no matter where they go?”

Arsenal FC must put their disappointing start to the 2018-19 campaign behind them quickly as West Ham United visit The Emirates on Saturday.

Supporters will expect Emery’s team to emerge victorious against Manuel Pellegrini’s men, who have also lost their opening two fixtures and finally get their season up and running with three points.
