Arsenal and EPL giants set to battle it out to land impressive full-back

Arsenal and Premier League rivals Manchester City are both believed to be interested in landing La Liga side Real Betis defender Junior Firpo, according to recent reports from Spain.

The Spanish daily sports newspaper Diario AS, as quoted on Calciomercato, reports that the Premier League duo are both interested in signing the defender from the Spanish side.

Firpo, who is under contract until June of 2023, boasts a €50 million release (buy-out) clause at Betis, meaning that he will not come cheaply if either side does want to pursue a deal.

The Spanish youth international has been impressing in Spain’s top flight this season, with his impressive performances not going unnoticed.

The left-back position is an area that the north London side are looking to strengthen, with neither Bosnia and Herzegovina international Sead Kolasinac and experienced defender Nacho Monreal getting any younger.

The former was connected with a return to Spain during the summer but Gunners’s management opted against selling the star.

However, there is an acceptance that Spanish coach Unai Emery will need to address the situation sooner rather than later.
