Comfirmed: Emery looking to solve Arsenal defensive problems with this young Englishman

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing fellow Premier League side West Ham United’s young defender Reece Oxford, according to a report on the Daily Mirror.

Englishman has not been in any of Manuel Pellegrini’s EPL matchday squads yet this campaign and is growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of senior team action given to him.

The central defender was loaned to Bundesliga outfit Borussia Moenchengladbach the previous season and they were keen to land him on a permanent basis.

However, the Hammers’ management rejected their approach and decided to keep the talented youngster at the club this season.

Manuel Pellegrini has now warned the youngster that his future at the club is not secure, which has alerted the north London heavyweights.

With Unai Emery facing a defensive crisis at the moment, he is considering a January swoop for Oxford to ease his defensive concerns.

Gunners may even be prepared to wait until the summer to land the 20-year-old star but could face competition as Everton are also keen on signing him.

Oxford is one of his country’s highest-rated youngsters and has risen through the ranks of the national team.
