Arsenal transfers explored: Denis Suarez talks, Yannick Carrasco latest & Nicolo Barella update

Arsenal transfer news includes a look at the latest rumours with Arsenal correspondent Charles Watts from football London.

The transfer window is in full swing and Arsenal are looking to get some business done before the end of the month.

Arsenal's head coach said: “I think the club is working for the possibility to take some players who can help us during these next four months.

“Maybe the transfer market can help us with a centre-back, but it is not easy because also [Konstantinos] Mavropanos is also coming back after injury.

"Also a winger, right or left, one player can help us in this position.”

So what is the latest transfer speculation doing the rounds and does it have any substance?

Denis Suarez

Charles Watts says: Arsenal are in for Suarez and talks are continuing over a move.

The issue holding up any deal, however, is that Arsenal want to sign Suarez on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy in the summer.

But Barcelona want to sell the midfielder this month for around £18 million, with several other clubs having shown an interest in signing him.

Suarez wants a move to north London, however, and so talks are continuing to see if the two clubs can strike a deal that is suitable for all parties.

Yannick Carrasco

Charles Watts says: Carrasco has been linked with Arsenal before and it’s no real surprise to see him mentioned again, especially with Emery known to want a new winger.

But what makes this transfer very unlikely is that Arsenal do not have much money to play with this month and it would take a big transfer fee to get the 25-year-old out of China.

He is also reportedly on £170,000 a week and given the state of Arsenal’s wage bill, it’s unlikely that they would want to match that sort of figure just at a time when they are looking to get expenses under control.

Nicolo Barella

Charles Watts says: Again, this one does not look likely. If Barella does move to England, Chelsea is a far more likely option.

Cagliari would want around £50m for the the midfielder, which pretty much rules Arsenal out right away - even in the summer.

Even with the new commercial deals kicking in ahead of next season, Arsenal will not be looking at spending £50m on just one player.
