Reasons Why Lucas Torreira is not starting every Arsenal game – report

Unai Emery is adopting a long-term approach to playing Lucas Torreira due to "medical concerns" about the Arsenal midfielder, say reports

Unai Emery has opted not to start Lucas Torreira in every Arsenal game due to injury concerns about the Uruguayan midfielder, according to reports in the British media.

The Times , as quoted by Metro , is reporting that Emery is aware of an issue with the 22-year-old midfielder and that the Arsenal boss is thought to have “medical concerns” about him.

As a result, Emery is said to be taking a long-term approach with Torreira to ensure that he is not hindered by injuries during the early part of his Arsenal career.

Torreira has been a big hit at Arsenal since signing for the north London club from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window.

The South American has scored two goals and made two assists in 23 Premier League games so far this season for the Gunners.

However, he has only started 15 of those games in the top flight and has sometimes been used as a substitute by Emery, despite him seemingly adapting quickly to English football.

Torreira – who has only started in three of his last six appearances – will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the north London side host Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup at The Emirates on Friday night
