Confirmed: Arsenal target given assurance by boss ahead of summer

Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has been given assurance over his future at the Old Trafford by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain, according to the Daily Mail.

The Ivorian centre-back’s future has been in doubt since he fell out of favour under former manager Jose Mourinho, and again after he was sent off against Bournemouth.

The 24-year-old returned to the starting line-up as the Red Devils secured a hard fought 1-0 win over Leicester last weekend.

Solskjaer who is currently in charge of the team in a caretaker capacity, praised the partnership of Bailly and Victor Lindelof after the victory on Sunday.

‘ Fantastic to have a clean sheet ,’ he said after the game.

‘And they (Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof) played well against Arsenal together. Today, we started a little sloppy – Eric knows – but they really came good. ‘

The Ivory Coast international had been linked with Arsenal and PSG (who they face next week in the Champions league).

He has started just one Premier league game since his red card against Bournemouth, but Solskjaer has met with him to assure him that he remains in his plans for the rest of the season.

The win over Leicester saw them rise above Arsenal into fifth place with one point after the Gunners lost to Manchester City and are now just two points behind Chelsea who occupy the final Champions League spot in fourth place.
