Emery's dismissal praised Arsenal's "Quality" star before the Southampton clash

Unai Emery welcomed the quality and consistency of Matteo Guendouzi after the teenager held a commanding show during Arsenal's 3-0 win over Europa against BATE.

The 19-year-old moved to Arsenal from Ligue 2 on FC Lorient's side last summer and was expected to be a player for the future and not a regular first team immediately.

However, Guendouz gave a surprise start to the opening day of the season against Manchester City and has been a virtual ever since since, featuring in 34 games in all races.

Guendouz played his role after Arsenal abolished a deficit of 1-0 from the first match against BATE to advance at the last 16 stage and Emery welcomed the youth development since his transfer to Arsenal.

Speaking after the game, Emery said:

"His development is as we want, he has a great ambition, great quality. Sometimes we need more quality with him and for him to be stronger in the midfield.

But his development with us is very important and he plays with great stamina. Its quality is very impressive. '

So promises have had the performances of Guendouzi in North London, he has recently been linked to a return to his homeland with PSG reportedly pursuing his progress closely.

Guendouzi has previously revealed that PSG were interested in him during his time with Lorient but that he was placed in a move to Arsenal in the country.

When asked about the rumors surrounding Guendouz's future, Emery looked surprised, saying, 'I'm surprised. I do not want this.
