Good News: Arsenal set to benefit from £65m early summer done deal

Arsenal believe they have the edge in the race to sign Paris Saint Germain midfielder in the summer, according to the DailyMirror.

The French midfielder is set to leave the French capital side in the summer when his contract expires after refusing to sign a new deal and the competition for his signature is now very high.

The Gunners have been keeping tabs on Rabiot for years even before he broke into the first team at PSG and have come close to signing him on several occasions under previous manager Arsene Wenger.

Current manager Unai Emery worked with Rabiot for two years when he was manager of the French club before moving to the Emirates Stadium last summer.

He is said to be a huge fan of the 23-year-old and was the manager who solidified his first team status at Paris Saint Germain and would like a reunion at Emirates.

The likes of Tottenham and Barcelona have been linked with him since he turned down a contract from the French side and he was reportedly in discussions with the Catalans in January over a summer move after rejecting an approach by Tottenham.

But Barcelona’s interest has cooled recently since they completed the £65 million signing of Ajax youngster Frenkie de Jong who will join them July 1, 2019.

The Gunners now believe they have the edge with his links to Emery.
