Lacazette, Torreira, Maitland-Niles, Ozil - Arsenal team news and expected XI vs Rennes

Arsenal news includes a look at who is available for Thursday's Europa League clash with Rennes

Arsenal return to Europa League action this week as they travel to Rennes for the first leg of their last-16 clash.

Having enjoyed a good couple of weeks in domestic action, Unai Emery's side will be looking to take a major step towards booking their place in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday night.

But they will have to handle what will be a fevered atmosphere in northwest France, with excitement high in Rennes ahead of the visit of the Gunners.

This is the first time the Ligue 1 club has ever reached this stage of a European competition and ticket demand for the game could have seen the 30,000 capacity Roazhon Park sold out four times over.

But those fans won't be able to see their fellow countryman Alexandre Lacazette in action as the French forward is suspended following his sending off in the previous round against BATE Borisov.

Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal is shown the red card by referee Srdjan Jovanovic against BATE.

Lacazette was sent off for an elbow in the first leg against Borisov when Arsenal were beaten 1-0. He missed the return leg, which the Gunners won 3-0, and will also have to sit out both games against Rennes.

That means that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will definitely start up front on Thursday night, with young striker Eddie Nketiah on the bench.

Lucas Torreira is another player who is certain to start, with the Uruguay international banned for Sunday's meetingwith Manchester United due to the red card he received against Spurs last weekend.

Mesut Ozil could come in to play just ahead of Torreira in the No.10 role, with Aaron Ramsey expected to be rested ahead of the United game.

Emery looks set to go with a flat-back four, with Sead Kolasinac likely to come in at left-back and the fit again Ainsley Maitland-Niles an option at right-back.

Petr Cech will once again start in goal for the Gunners in the Europa League, with the experienced keeper going back to the club where he spent three years before moving to Chelsea in 2004.

Expected Arsenal XI vs Rennes : Leno, Maitland-Niles, Sokratis, Koscielny, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Torreira, Iwobi, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang.
