Arsenal set for surprise transfer budget boost due to imminent Serie A deal.

ARSENAL’s transfer kitty could be set to increase in the coming days, without Unai Emery selling a single member of his squad.

The Spaniard is planning a major overhaul of his side this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of finishing in the top four next season.

He’ll face a tough task to do so, though, as the club have given him minimal funds to bring in reinforcements.

Emery will only have £45million at his disposal to make wholesale changes to his side before the transfer window slams shut on August 8.

That figure would’ve been significantly larger had his troops qualified for the Champions League, which they haven’t featured in for the last three years.

But according to reports, Emery’s transfer budget will increase due to the sale of a former player.

French outlet Le 10Sport claim the Gunners are set to receive a windfall from Ismael Bennacer’s proposed move from Empoli to Fiorentina.

They claim the Italian side have agreed a deal to sign the Algeria international, who left the Emirates in the summer of 2017.

It’s unknown how much the Viola are shelling out to acquire the 21-year-old’s services, but Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio claims Arsenal will pocket 30 per-cent of the transfer fee.

Bennacer is said to be valued at £13million, meaning Arsenal would receive £3.9million from the deal.

While it may not sound like a lot of money, Emery would happily welcome the extra funds.

It’s understood the former Sevilla boss wants to cash in on Mesut Ozil in order to finance his summer rebuild.

The former Germany international is Arsenal’s highest earner on £350,000-a-week, so getting him off the wage bill would significantly increase Emery’s budget.

And former Gunners star Jimmy Carter believes the club should cash in on the 30-year-old if they receive a suitable offer.

"If he was honest, Ozil would know that his season last season was way below the level he should be," Carter told Goal. “He has to either be moved on or he needs to step up next season and show he is a top player in Europe.

"You need some creativity in there, Ozil has to be moved on as he looks disinterested. At the moment, he is not showing that [he is interested].

“If I was the manager and got offered good money for him, then I would take it straight away.”
