Aubameyang Reacts to Post Calling Unai Emery a PUPPET

Aubameyang likes post calling Unai Emery 'a puppet' amid Arsenal exit rumours

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got Arsenal fans a little concerned on Thursday evening when he ‘liked’ an Instagram post criticising the club and calling Unai Emery a ‘puppet’. The Gabon striker has been linked with a summer move away from the Emirates, having reportedly received a £300,000-a-week offer to play in China, while Manchester United have even been credited with an interest in him. Arsenal’s board made it clear that they will not allow players to run down their contracts any more, and Aubameyang – who has two years left on his current deal – could potentially be offloaded if he does not sign an extension.

Many fans are concerned by the way the club is currently being run – with a rumoured transfer budget of just £45million this summer – and Aubameyang may share those fears. The Golden Boot winner shared a video post on Instagram from AFTV in which the club’s business, or lack thereof, was criticised, as well as the approach of targeting young players rather than proven talents. ‘I don’t see where he’s got any control at all, whether he’ll get the players he wants,’ says AFTV’s Claude in the video. ‘I think he’s probably there as a puppet for the board.’ Astonishingly, Aubameyang liked the post to send the Arsenal fandom into meltdown, while he also made a couple of cryptic posts on his Instagram stories.

Emery is yet to make a signing this summer despite wanting upwards of five new players, with a centre-back, two full-backs, a winger and a box-to-box midfielder to replace Aaron Ramsey all on the agenda. But Arsenal’s defeat in the Europa League final, and the failure to qualify for the Champions League, has severely hampered their spending power and they could be forced to sell players to bolster their kitty in what could be a very frustrating summer.
