Lauren replies when asked if Arsenal should sell Lucas Torreira

Lucas Torreira still has a lot to offer Arsenal, according to former Gunners defender Lauren.

The Uruguay international appears to be facing an uncertain future at the north London side amid interest from Serie A in his services.

Reports in Italy are reporting that AC Milan manager Marco Giampaolo wants to sign Torreira to help his rebuild of the San Siro outfit.

The AC Milan boss worked with Torreira at Sampdoria before the South American midfielder’s £26m move to Arsenal in the 2018 summer transfer window.

Torreira has spoken about his difficulties adapting to life in the English capital over the past 12 months despite his positive performances on the pitch.

However, former Arsenal defender Lauren doesn’t believe the Gunners should consider selling Torreira.

“Lucas Torreira has so much more to give Arsenal and will continue to improve throughout next season,” Lauren told bWIN.

“Torreira is a young player and still has a lot to prove. Torreira does bring much-needed balance to Arsenal’s squad. He is a young talent who will continue to grow with Arsenal and I look forward to seeing him progress.”

Torreira scored two goals in 24 starts and 10 substitutes appearances in the Premier League last season in a credible debut campaign in the English top flight.

The Uruguayan midfielder helped Arsenal to reach the Europa League final in Baku before a 4-1 loss to bitter rivals Chelsea FC.

Arsenal have already lost one key midfielder in the shape of Aaron Ramsey to Serie A champions Juventus this summer.

Presumably, Unai Emery would be loathe to lose another key player in the middle of the park as the Spanish head coach looks to return Arsenal to their former glory.
