Celtic boss Neil Lennon gives fresh Kieran Tierney to Arsenal transfer update

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon has stated there have been no developments in Arsenal’s efforts to sign Kieran Tierney.

Tierney is the Gunners’ top target in their search for a left-back but their first bid of £15million was turned down by the Scottish champions, who insist on their £25m valuation.

Lennon has spoken to the 22-year-old defender but it seems like he is mostly focused on regaining full fitness ahead of this season.

The Celtic boss added that the club won’t pay attention to any offers that don’t meet their valuation of the player.

Lennon said: “I have taken no notice of the headlines.

“I am well aware of where we are in terms of the situation.

“I spoke to Kieran in Austria and to be honest I haven’t really seen much of him because he came back early for rehab, so has not been on the training ground as yet.

“It can be an unsettling period for any player and that is understandable but until a club comes up with any sort of realistic valuation of the player we don’t have to do anything and we won’t.

“It’s as you were.

“Kieran is getting on with his rehabilitation and we are getting on with what we have to do here.”

Arsenal boss Unai Emery sees Tierney as the ideal left-back that can replace an ageing Nacho Monreal.

Despite his young age the Scotland international has already amassed a whopping 170 appearances for the Hoops.

He has also won four Scottish Premiership titles as well as two Scottish Cups throughout his four-year stint in the senior squad.

Tierney is reportedly interested in joining Arsenal while Napoli are also keeping tabs on him.

The north London club, though, have struggled to land any of their top targets this summer due to their small transfer budget that is around £45m.
