Good News!!! Arsenal want another transfer completed after William Saliba but it’s not Wilfried Zaha

ARSENAL are looking to sign another centre-back once they complete the transfer of William Saliba from Saint-Etienne.

According to BBC Sport, Saliba is close to moving to north London after the Gunners agreed a £27million deal with the Ligue 1 side but the fans won’t see him in action until next year.

That is because the French club want the defender back on loan for the new campaign and the Premier league giants are said to have agreed to that request.

Now that the Frenchman will not be available for this season Arsenal boss Unai Emery is in need of another centre-back, according to Metro.

Emery is not pleased with his current defence and is looking for someone that can go straight into his starting line-up and elevate his backline.

The Spanish gaffer is also considering selling Shkodran Mustafi in order to raise the club’s transfer funds for the summer.

Arsenal have around £45m to spend but Saliba’s transfer won’t have a major effect on their budget as they will pay in instalments.

The north London club’s efforts to land Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha and Celtic ace Kieran Tierney have so far been futile.

Arsenal have only signed 18-year-old forward Gabriel Martinelli but, just like Saliba, he is not yet ready for the senior squad even though they are both highly rated.

The Gunners will continue negotiations with Celtic about Tierney and may reopen talks with Bournemouth about possibly signing Ryan Fraser as an alternative to Zaha.

Arsenal finished fifth last season with just one point away from north London rivals Tottenham and fourth place.

Emery’s side failed to qualify for the Champions League for the third season in a row.

The Gunners had a second chance via the Europa League but lost to Premier League rivals Chelsea in the final.

Eden Hazard led the Blues to a decisive 4-1 victory with a brace in Baku.

Pedro and former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud also scored whereas Alex Iwobi netted the consolation goal.
