Kieran Tierney’s representative gives Arsenal hope of completing transfer.

Kieran Tierney ‘could be on his way’ to Arsenal if they make Celtic an improved offer this summer, a representative of the left-back has claimed.

Arsenal had their opening £15million bid for Tierney rejected, with Celtic holding out for a fee of closer to £25m for the 22-year-old Scotland international.

The Gunners are hopeful that they can complete a deal if they stump up £22m for Tierney, but Napoli’s sudden interest has forced the north London club to accelerate their talks for the full-back.

Though Celtic appear to have signed a ready-made replacement in Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo, the Scottish champions are in no rush to reach an agreement with Arsenal for Tierney.

Allan Preston, part of the Stellar Group that represents Tierney, told BBC Sport: ‘It is all down to Celtic – if they get a price that they believe is the correct value for Kieran Tierney he could possibly be on his way.

‘No one has hit that price yet.

‘I know Kieran really well, I had some food with him the other day.

‘He is such an unassuming young man. He is wealthy at the moment but he doesn’t possess a watch because he isn’t into material things like this.

‘He still hangs about with his pals from when he was a youngster, he sponsors his local pub team where his pals play and he’s not into his designer gear or anything like that.

‘As the guys say, he loves Celtic. He absolutely loves Celtic. Will there be a time for Kieran Tierney to go? I think that there will be.

‘If it’s just now it will be up to the clubs that are involved – Arsenal, Napoli or whoever – to then put the money on the table and make Celtic think about this.

‘If there is a time for Kieran to go it will be up to Celtic, Peter Lawwell and the board.’

Preston stressed that Celtic are far from desperate to get a deal over the line for Tierney seeing as they are short of options at left-back.

He added: ‘They have signed a left-back but they do need one because [Emilio] Izaguirre is away.

‘The ball is firmly in Celtic’s court at the moment.’
