WENGER REVEALS JANUARY TRANSFER PLANS

reluctant to comment on transfer speculation during his pre-match conference on Tuesday but did say the Gunners were “open” to signing an “exceptional player” that would boost the side.
“We are open in any position for the exceptional player that can give us a plus,” said Wenger, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“It depends a bit on the injuries as well, on the other hand it depends who will manage to extend the contracts of the players who are at the end of their contracts in June.
“It will depend on that because we have to take the consequences of these decisions and respond to it.”
Sky Sports quoted Wenger as confirming that Arsenal were yet to receive any bids for Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil or Jack Wilshere.
Wenger confirmed the trio’s future will effect any plans to sign players, revealing the club will have to respond to any “consequences” resulting from being unable to extended their deals.
Arsenal were leading the race to sign Chelsea’s Luiz according to the Daily Express on Sunday and were linked to Thomas Lemar after having a£92million bid accepted in the summer.
However, Wenger also denied reports linking Arsenal with moves for either of those players, labeling the reports “wrong.”
Good move for Arsenal?
Luiz and Lemar would have been some exciting signings for Arsenal fans in the January window and brought some much needed quality to the squad, but Wenger has been quick to deny links.
With Arsenal still waiting to sort out the futures of Wilshere, Ozil and Sanchez, they’re going to be once again slow to act in the transfer market.
It’s not known how quickly the Gunners could resolve the situation, and it sounds like it could have a negative effect on Arsenal adding players they need to the squad.

Likely to happen?
With Wenger breaking his habit of commenting on reports, moves for Lemar and Luiz look unlikely.
However, the question now remains, if it’s not those two he’s considering, what exceptional players has he considered?
It’s a worry that perhaps Arsenal haven’t established their transfer targets as of yet, and have been distracted by the ongoing situation surrounding their contract rebels.
