Olivier Giroud explains why he left Arsenal to sign for Chelsea FC

Olivier Giroud explains his decision to leave Arsenal to sign for Chelsea FC in the January transfer window

Olivier Giroud has admitted that he “needed” to leave Arsenal following his transfer to Chelsea FC in the January window.
The French striker signed for the north London side from the Gunners after he was deemed to be surplus to requirements at The Emirates by Arsene Wenger this season.
Giroud scored his first goal for his new club when he found the net in Chelsea FC’s 4-0 win over Hull City in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Friday night at Stamford Bridge.
The forward will be hoping to feature when the Blues return to Champions League action on Tuesday night with a crunch clash against FC Barcelona in front of their home fans.
And the 31-year-old has now lifted the lid on his decision to leave The Emirates and move across London to sign for their Premier League rivals.
Speaking to BT Sport , Giroud said: “I needed to leave Arsenal. Now it’s a new chapter of my career.
“The fans expect a lot from Chelsea strikers. I’m here to win trophies and help the team reach our targets.”
Chelsea FC are now preparing for their crunch showdown against Barcelona as they look to try and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
The west London side won the Premier League title last season but currently find themselves in fourth place in the Premier League table this term.
