Arsenal fans blasts Henry after he declared his intention to replace Wenger

While Thierry Henry insists that, if Arsenal were to ask for his ‘help’, he would offer it but fans haven’t forgotten when he chose Sky Sports over the club he ‘loves’ in 2014.
Henry claims that if Arsenal ask him to help them by appointing him as Arsene Wenger’s successor, he’s going to do so. But most fans aren’t convinced by the Sky Sports pundit after he refused to do precisely that just over three years ago.

“Listen, I’m a competitor, you don’t back down from a challenge,” he said, reports the Daily Mail.
“We are hypothetically speaking before people jump ahead of everything, [but] I have never backed down from a challenge since I was young.

“If I had listened to people who were talking about where I was going to be, I would not have been here.
“When I arrived at Arsenal, they said to me, ‘Why are you outside of the box, you will never score goals?’ with my position being on the left or whatever it was. You don’t back down from a challenge, you always think that you can.

“When I came back to play for Arsenal, everybody, all my friends were saying, ‘It can only tarnish your legacy, why are you going back there?’.

“If you love a place and they ask — I repeat, they ask — for help, you are always going to say yes. What I am saying to you is again, we are talking about hypothetical thoughts.”
Back in 2014, Arsenal gave Henry a choice. The former player either packed in his Sky Sports job, which was a conflict of interests, and stayed coaching Arsenal’s attacking youngsters at London Colney, or he had to leave.

In December 2014, Henry signed a £4m-per-year deal with Sky Sports, which speaks for itself.

Henry has been asked about whether he would like the Arsenal job more than once over the last week or so. In fact, it feels as if there’s a pretty clear PR campaign going on.

If the 40-year-old was to take over from Wenger, most fans would have mixed feelings. Henry isn’t like Patrick Vieira, who’s been coaching for years at Manchester City and now manages his own team (New York City FC). Henry is just assistant to the Belgium national side, who meet up every few months for a couple of matches.

Therefore, if Arsenal did appoint him, it would be because it’s romantic. Not because it’s practical.
