Arsenal transfer news: AS Roma reject offer, £14m-rated defender on radar, major boost

Arsenal fail to sign 20-year-old Turkey international
According to the Sports Illustrated AS Roma have rejected approaches from Arsenal to sign Turkish youngster Cengiz Ünder.
Despite Arsene Wenger showing an interest, Roma have made it clear that the player is not for sale. They apparently have no intentions of selling the winger, who they only signed last summer.
It is not surprising to hear, considering how well Ünder is playing at the moment. It took him until February to score his first league goal for Roma, after spells in and out of the starting XI, but since then he’s on a roll.
In the last two months, he scored six goals. That includes one goal in the Champions League last-16. For such a young player in his first season in one of Europe’s top-five leagues, that’s bound to turn some heads.
20-year-old is also already a full international, making his debut all the way back in 2016. He has three goals in seven matches for Turkey so far.
Ünder has a contract until 2022, so if Roma don’t want to sell him, Arsenal will have to wait for the proper moment to make a bid.
