Arsenal given boost in their pursuit of €18m-rated star

Bernd Leno has reportedly told Bayer Leverkusen’s management that he wishes to depart from the Bundesliga club, with many European sides showing interest, according to German tabloid newspaper Bild.
It is understood that Arsenal have shown interest in bringing shot-stopper to North London following some poor displays from first-choice ‘keeper Petr Cech, and the Arsenal hierarchy sees him as a good substitution.
After all, the Gunners reportedly face rivalry for Leno’s signature from La Liga giants Atlético Madrid and Italian club Napoli.
But as news spreads that the 26-year-old Bernd Leno is keen on exiting Bayer Leverkusen, it could be that The Gunners face more rivalry from other European elite clubs.
Leno’s current deal keeps him at Die Werkself until 2020, which would be one year shy of his testimonial year for Bayer Leverkusen, having joined in 2011 from German sides VfB Stuttgart II, for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £7 million.
After all, he could and probably will be departing much earlier than that, as Bernd Leno poses to attract increased interest during the summer if The Gunners or Los Rojiblancos fail to grab Germany international.
