Arsenal tried to secure signature of highly-rated winger linked with several UCL giants

Unai Emery’s Arsenal have reportedly had a €30 million offer for Serie A outfit AS Roma’s forward Cengiz Under turned down, with the Gunners hoping to beat Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich to his signature.

According to reports in the Italian media, the north London giants approached the Giallorossi over a deal to land the Turkish star but had a bid rejected.

It is believed the sum is way below AS Roma’s management asking price for the star, with interest likely to mount in the coming months.

The report does not specify when the offer was made, with it possible that this could have been made during the summer, or a move that is being prepared for the January transfer window.

Die Roten have been heavily linked with Turkey international this week, with reports claiming that the Bundesliga outfit see him as a long-term replacement for either Fench star Franck Ribery or Dutch star Arjen Robben.

Another Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in the technically gifted winger, who is likely to cost in the region of €50-€60 million.
